On July 6, it was learned from the Anhui Provincial Department of Finance that the Board of Directors of the New Development Bank (NDB) has recently approved the Anhui Highway Development Project. This is Anhui's first project to use an NDB loan, opening a new chapter in cooperation between Anhui Province and the NDB, and it is currently the largest international financial institution loan project in Anhui by loan amount.

The project involves a total investment of 8.228 billion yuan, including an NDB loan of 340 million euros with a term of 24 years (including a 5-year grace period). By constructing and upgrading six resource-saving and environmentally friendly green highways totaling 196 kilometers in the five cities of Chuzhou, Ma'anshan, Wuhu, Xuancheng and Chizhou, the project will improve connectivity and traffic safety in the areas where it is located, expand the reach of highway benefits to the public, raise the level of application of new technologies and new materials for green highways and of green highway construction, management, operation and maintenance in Anhui Province, promote local social and economic development, and create a shining example of ecological civilization development in Anhui's transportation sector.

A relevant official of the Provincial Department of Finance said that next steps will be to strengthen coordination and cooperation with the Provincial Department of Transportation and the relevant project cities, carefully carry out the signing of the project's legal documents and project launch, ensure that project construction conditions are in place, and strive for the project to begin construction as soon as possible.
