On July 1, the Jiudingshan Extra-Long Tunnel of the Chuxiong (Guangtong) to Dali (Jiangfengsi) Expressway Expansion Project achieved double-tube breakthrough, laying the foundation for the completion and opening of the Chuda Expressway Expansion Project.

The Chuda Expressway Expansion Project is 200.5 kilometers long. It is an international corridor connecting Southeast Asian and South Asian countries within the province's expressway network's main corridors of "seven exits from the province and five exits from the country," and is also the main trunk line from the provincial capital Kunming to western Yunnan, northwestern Yunnan, and southwestern Yunnan. Once completed, the project will effectively ease traffic pressure on the Chuda Expressway and shorten travel time.

The Jiudingshan Tunnel is a key controlling project of the Chuda Expressway Expansion Project. With a total length of 7,597 meters and 16 emergency parking bays, it is a maximum-span dual-direction six-lane highway tunnel. During construction, more than 280 geological disasters such as mud bursts and water inrushes occurred, with cumulative water inflow reaching 190 million cubic meters. To ensure construction progress, the project company and the construction unit promptly adjusted the construction plan, increased resource allocation and investment, and made every effort to advance project construction.
