2021: The 100th Anniversary of the Founding of the CPC

After years of civil war between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party, the CPC won a comprehensive victory on the Chinese mainland and most coastal islands, led the Chinese People's Liberation Army to defeat the National Revolutionary Army of the Republic of China, forced the government of the Republic of China to retreat to Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen and Matsu, and established the People's Republic of China in Beijing in 1949 under a socialist system. Since October 1949, it has been the sole ruling party of the People's Republic of China on the Chinese mainland, representing the working class in leading the worker-peasant alliance and the united front and exercising the people's democratic dictatorship.

The Communist Party of China is the vanguard of the Chinese working class, and at the same time the vanguard of the Chinese people and the Chinese nation. It is the leading core of the cause of socialism with Chinese characteristics, represents the development requirements of China's advanced productive forces, represents the forward direction of China's advanced culture, and represents the fundamental interests of the overwhelming majority of the Chinese people. The highest ideal and ultimate goal of the Party is the realization of communism.
