Recently, after the construction permit for the Hengyong Expressway project was issued, all contract sections have adhered to the principle of "start all that can be started, start quickly what can be started quickly," accelerating the pace of substantive construction. Multiple controlling projects, including the Qishan Tunnel and Tongle Bridge, have successively commenced, and the entire project line has ushered in a major construction boom.

On June 8, a commencement ceremony was held for the Qishan Tunnel on the Hengyong Expressway, announcing the official start of tunnel excavation. The Qishan Tunnel is the only tunnel on the Hengyong Expressway and a key controlling project of the project. It has a total length of 2,590 meters and a maximum burial depth of 280 meters. The terrain within the tunnel section fluctuates greatly, with high mountains and narrow roads and steep slopes. The portal sections at both ends are located on gully slopes, forming a "U" shape. The geological structure is complex, and construction organization is relatively difficult. The Qishan Tunnel is a golden corridor connecting Hengyang and Yongzhou. Once completed, the tunnel will greatly shorten the straight-line distance between Hengyang and Yongzhou and has important practical significance for the economic and social development along the project route.

On June 9, construction began on the first pile foundation of the Hengyong Expressway. The 19-3 pile foundation of Tongle Bridge, which started construction this time, is the first pile foundation project under construction along the entire Hengyong Expressway. Tongle Bridge is 599.5 meters long and crosses over National Highway G234. Its superstructure uses precast small box girders, including 19 spans of 30-meter girders and 1 span of 23.5-meter girder. The substructure uses column-type and ribbed-slab pile foundations, with the longest pile length being 21.5 meters and the highest pier column height being 24.5 meters. It is a controlling project of Contract Section 4. The pile foundation being excavated this time is the first item in the bridge substructure. The entire line will use the first item as a model to guide standardized construction of similar subsequent projects, comprehensively improve the project's construction technology and management levels, and build a "Safe and Centennial Quality" project.

The commencement of construction on key controlling projects marks major substantive progress in the Hengyong Expressway project construction and lays a solid foundation for achieving the established opening target on schedule.
