On June 10, good news came from the construction site of the Zhushanpu Tunnel on the Miyu Expressway (Huaning Section): following the breakthrough of the right tube in March, the left tube of the tunnel has now been successfully holed through. This tunnel becomes the first on the Miyu Expressway within Huaning County to achieve full two-way breakthrough.

According to staff from the contractor CCCC Second Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd., the Zhushanpu Tunnel is located in Guojiaoying Village, Huaning County. Designed as a separated tunnel with two tubes and six lanes and a design speed of 100 km/h, it is an important component of the Miyu Expressway. The left tube holed through this time is 591 meters long with a maximum burial depth of 114 meters. The tunnel is dominated by Grade IV and Grade V surrounding rock, making construction relatively difficult. Since tunnel excavation began in September 2020, the company has stayed focused on its goals, worked to a reverse schedule, and made orderly plans for production factors such as personnel, materials, and machinery. It overcame the adverse effects of the pandemic, the steep portal slope, and complex geological conditions such as karst development zones and high-risk fault zones, successfully achieving breakthrough of the left tube.

It is reported that the Miyu Expressway starts at Xigangshao, Xinshao Town, Mile City, Honghe Prefecture, connecting with the existing Guangzhou-Kunming Expressway, and ends at Duoyishu Village, Yanhe Subdistrict, Hongta District, connecting with the existing Kunming-Mohan Expressway and the under-construction Yuxi-Chuxiong Expressway. With a total length of 115.42 kilometers, it is one of Yunnan Province's key construction projects. The project will strengthen interconnection between Yuxi and surrounding prefectures (cities) and provide strong support for the economic and social development of Yuxi City.
