This year's Government Work Report of Deyang City proposed vigorously advancing the construction of urban trunk roads and building a half-hour commuting circle within the city area.

On June 3, the construction of the Deyang-Zhongjiang Expressway achieved a major breakthrough. As the first main east-west corridor within the Deyang city area and the lateral framework of the "Five Vertical and Five Horizontal" trunk highway network, its key control node project, the Shimiaoya Tunnel, was officially holed through today, marking the first tunnel of the project to be completed.

The Shimiaoya Tunnel has a total length of about 900 meters and is designed as a separated tunnel with six lanes in both directions. Since formal construction began in June last year, after 363 days of hard work by the construction workers, the left tube of the Shimiaoya Tunnel was the first to be holed through.

The Deyang-Zhongjiang Expressway starts at the end of Jinsha River East Road in Deyang, passes through towns such as Hexin Town and Jifeng Town, connects with the Longxing Interchange of the Chengdu Third Ring Expressway near Longxingchang, and ends at Jiguang Avenue on the Second Ring Road of Zhongjiang County. The project has a total length of about 24 kilometers and a total investment of 4.6 billion yuan. It adopts the technical standards of a first-class highway with six lanes in both directions, and plans to complete an investment of 1.3 billion yuan this year.
