On June 2, 2021, Anhui Province's first domestically built shield tunneling machine for export rolled off the production line at the equipment manufacturing workshop of Conch Kawasaki Equipment Company. This is Anhui's first export of a shield tunneling machine to countries along the Belt and Road, filling the gap in Anhui's shield tunneling machine exports and demonstrating the province's strength in high-end equipment manufacturing.

The end user of the shield tunneling machine rolled off the line this time is the Jakarta Metro Line 2 project in Indonesia. The project involves a total of two earth pressure balance shield tunneling machines with a diameter of 6.8 meters, which are mainstream models for metro tunnel excavation engineering. Compared with brands of other manufacturers in the industry, they feature fast excavation speed, safe and convenient cutter replacement, and stable control performance. The manufacturing of this shield tunneling machine began in July 2020. To ensure the smooth progress of the project, the company established a shield tunneling machine project team with multiple specialized groups under it, which separately digested technical requirements, prepared process guidelines, established quality control standards, built a supporting parts supply chain, and scheduled production plans. Without adding new equipment or increasing manpower, the company successfully achieved production conversion. Engineering and technical personnel compiled hundreds of pages of process and quality plans, and the production unit assigned dedicated teams to ensure product fabrication, processing, assembly, and debugging. Overcoming the adverse effects of the pandemic, manufacturing was completed in April 2021. The second machine is undergoing final assembly, and the two shield tunneling machines will be exported to Indonesia via the Maritime Silk Road in August and October 2021 respectively.

A shield tunneling machine is high-end equipment integrating mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and control systems. It is widely used in the construction of municipal utility tunnels, metros, tunnels, and other projects. Complete machine production and assembly place high demands on an enterprise's comprehensive production and processing capabilities and process foundation, and also set high thresholds for the product performance and quality of associated supporting enterprises. It is truly a "major national heavy equipment." The smooth rollout of the first shield tunneling machine is a milestone for Conch Kawasaki Equipment Company in embarking on high-end equipment manufacturing and marks a new breakthrough in Anhui's export of major equipment manufacturing.
