The Xiamen Second West Channel (Haicang Tunnel) starts on the east side of the intersection of Haicang Avenue and Maqing Road and ends east of the Shigushan Interchange in Xiamen, with a total length of about 7.1 kilometers. The Haicang Tunnel itself is about 6,335 meters long, surpassing the Xiang'an Subsea Tunnel; once completed, it will be the longest subsea tunnel in the province.

After five years of construction, the Xiamen Second West Channel (Haicang Tunnel), a key municipal project, is about to open to traffic. At present, the overall project is 99.9% complete. The tunnel has six lanes in both directions, is 6.3 kilometers long, and has a speed limit of 80 km/h; under normal road conditions, it can be crossed in 5 minutes. It is reported that the Haicang Tunnel is expected to officially open to traffic in the middle of this month.

At present, construction inside the tunnel has been completed, and workers are debugging fire-fighting facilities and electromechanical facilities and trimming the edges and corners of the tunnel guardrails and decorative panels. On the wall at the Xinghu Road exit end of the Haicang Tunnel, there are white reliefs of Xiamen's signature buildings such as the Xiang'an Tunnel, Xinglin Bridge, and Jimei Bridge, as well as horses and figures; the Haicang exit end features a colorful vegetation-shaped "rainbow wall," which is very beautiful.
