On May 31, with a blast, the exit end of the Majiazhuang Tunnel on the Jinan-Laiwu High-Speed Railway, constructed by China Railway 21st Bureau Group Co., Ltd., was successfully holed through, laying a solid foundation for the full breakthrough of the tunnel.

The 3,380-meter-long Majiazhuang Tunnel passes through a moderately developed karst area, fault fracture zones and the Lu-Wan oil pipeline. During construction, water inrush, mud bursts and collapses occurred frequently, making it a controlling key project of the entire Jinan-Laiwu High-Speed Railway.

Facing "roadblocks" such as poor transport conditions, high construction difficulty and high safety risks, the construction personnel treated the start of work as a decisive battle, strictly implemented standardized management, meticulously arranged the allocation of resources and elements, and precisely adopted control and correction measures. During construction, based on advanced geological forecasting and the surrounding rock conditions at the tunnel face, they organized experts many times to demonstrate the tunnel's safety step distance and construction methods, adopted the "micro-bench method" for construction, and applied new technologies such as smooth blasting, effectively improving construction efficiency.
