Recently, it was learned from the project department of the Shenhai Expressway Yangjiang-Maoming Section Expansion Project that after all 28 overpasses were demolished, TJ2 and TJ3 sections of the project are now fully advancing asphalt paving. The pavement work is 70% complete, with efforts focused on achieving eight-lane traffic by the end of the year.

In the morning, at the TJ2 section construction site from Chengcun to Yangxi on the Shenhai Expressway Yangma Section Expansion Project, under scorching sun, asphalt pavers and rollers moved back and forth as more than 40 workers carried out asphalt paving of the middle surface course.

Tian Tong, project manager of the TJ2 section of the Shenhai Expressway Yangma Section Expansion Project: After all 28 overpasses were demolished, it means all traffic bottleneck problems have been resolved, creating favorable conditions for achieving two-way eight lanes in the next step and accelerating construction progress. The middle surface course is currently being constructed; after this layer is completed, there will still be a 4 cm thick upper surface course. Construction on this section will basically be completed by the end of May.

The construction manager said that with midsummer now here, high temperatures pose a major challenge for workers paving asphalt on the road surface. They will implement staggered working hours and provide workers with cooling care to ensure the project is completed with high quality and opened to traffic on schedule. Up to now, the subgrade work of the Shenhai Expressway Yangma Section Expansion Project is 100% complete, bridge work is 90% complete, and pavement work is 70% complete. It is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of this year.

What remains is the pavement work, which is about 70% complete. Taking advantage of the current fine weather, construction progress is relatively fast.
