Recently, construction has officially begun on the main works of the early-started section of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway. This marks new progress since the section officially broke ground in January this year.

Early-Started Section of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway: Two Inclined Shafts Being Excavated Simultaneously

The Shenzhen–Shenshan Cooperation Zone Railway (hereinafter referred to as the "Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway") is the first high-speed railway led by Shenzhen, with a design speed of 350 km/h, and has attracted much attention.

On May 13, construction officially began on the main works of the early-started section of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway. At present, the portal slope and the advance crown arch for the cut-off drainage ditch have been completed, and safe excavation of the upper heading of the inclined shaft has begun.

The Tanglangshan Tunnel (western section) in the early-started section of the Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway is located in Nanshan District and Luohu District of Shenzhen, Guangdong, with the alignment running roughly east-west. It extends from mileage DK114+370 to DK128+257, with a total length of 13.89 km. It is a single-tube, double-track tunnel excavated using the mining method.

The early-started section has two inclined shafts under simultaneous excavation, namely the Meilin Inclined Shaft and the Changlingpi Inclined Shaft, with a combined length of about 1.7 km.

At present, construction is being carried out in strict accordance with design and specification requirements, with the goal of entering the main tunnel by the end of 2021.

Only 30 Minutes from the Shenzhen-Shanwei Cooperation Zone to Central Shenzhen

The Shenzhen–Shenshan Cooperation Zone Railway (hereinafter referred to as the "Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway") starts at Xili Station in the Shenzhen hub and runs to the Shenzhen-Shanwei Special Cooperation Zone, connecting to Shenshan Station on the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway. It has a design speed of 350 km/h and a total length of 129.38 km.

Of this, about 55.36 km is in Shenzhen, about 56.99 km in Huizhou, and about 17.03 km in the Shenzhen-Shanwei Cooperation Zone. The line has six stations: Xili, Luohu North, Shenzhen Pingshan, Huizhou South, Huidong, and Shenshan. The total construction period is five years.

The Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway, together with the Hangzhou-Wenzhou Railway (also known as the Xiamen-Shenzhen Railway), the Fuzhou-Xiamen Railway, the Guangzhou-Shanwei Railway, and the Shenzhen-Nanning Railway, jointly forms part of the national coastal high-speed rail corridor.

Once completed, the line will enable high-speed connections between the Greater Bay Area and the Yangtze River Delta, the West Coast Economic Zone, and the Southwest region, as well as high-speed, high-frequency rail links between Shenzhen and the Shenzhen-Shanwei Cooperation Zone.

It is expected that after the Shenzhen-Shanwei Railway is completed, the trip from the Shenzhen-Shanwei Cooperation Zone to central Shenzhen will take only 30 minutes. This will be of great significance for Shenzhen in strengthening its role as a core engine of the Greater Bay Area, improving external railway corridors, and connecting coastal high-speed railways.
