On May 18, with the successful pouring of the final batch of concrete for the right span of the main bridge of the Dawan Lianjiang Bridge on the Guanglian Expressway, the bridge achieved smooth closure and through-connection. As the first of the four continuous rigid-frame bridges on the Guanglian Expressway to be closed, its exemplary and leading role is inspiring, and the Guanglian Expressway (north of Shanzhan) has moved one step closer to its goal of opening to traffic by the end of the year.

The Dawan Lianjiang Bridge is a key controlled project of the Guanglian Expressway project, with a total length of 894.6 meters. Its main bridge uses prestressed variable cross-section continuous rigid-frame girders to cross the Lianjiang River. Affected by earlier design changes, karst geology and over-water operations, the bridge faced enormous schedule pressure and construction difficulties. Since construction began in August 2019, the Guanglian Expressway General Contracting Department, together with the project department, carried out refined construction organization and deployment. At the same time, experts from CCCC Fourth Harbor Engineering Co., Ltd. visited the site many times to provide technical support, overcoming a series of difficulties such as hole formation in karst pile foundations and cofferdam dewatering during flood seasons, ensuring the smooth and efficient progress of the project.

Luo Qingfeng, project manager of the Guanglian Expressway General Contracting Department, said that to ensure the progress and quality of the Dawan Lianjiang Bridge project, the Guanglian Expressway has continuously innovated in project management and actively explored more efficient management methods, using "hardcore" practical measures to guarantee project progress. By actively leveraging the leading role of Party building and introducing more technological elements into the project, efforts are focused on building the Lianjiang Bridge into a quality project and a transparent project. While ensuring the bridge is completed smoothly according to schedule, the goal is also to make the Lianjiang Bridge a truly technological, intelligent and people's livelihood bridge.

Chen Jun, secretary of the Party branch of the Guanglian Project General Contracting Department, stated that Party building work is the prerequisite for all work carried out by the Guanglian project and is also the "ultimate code" enabling the smooth closure of the Lianjiang Bridge. During the construction of the Lianjiang Bridge, the Party branch of the Guanglian General Contracting Department closely relied on the "Party building+" model and carried out various themed "integrated Party building" activities at the Lianjiang Bridge.

To effectively carry out epidemic prevention and control and project resumption, the Party branch of the Guanglian General Contracting Department actively organized Party member vanguard teams to go to the grassroots, striving to integrate Party building work into the bridge's resumption of work and production and epidemic prevention and control. To improve project quality and the work enthusiasm of workers along the entire line, the Guanglian General Contracting Department, together with the Guanglian Project Company, actively organized the "Six Comparisons and Six Creations" labor competition, integrating Party building work into the bridge's construction and production. To solve key and difficult problems emerging in bridge construction, the Party branch of the General Contracting Department organized outstanding Party members into Party member assault teams, giving full play to the exemplary and vanguard role of Party members to resolve the relevant issues.

It is reported that with the double-span closure of the Dawan Lianjiang Bridge on the Guanglian Expressway, the Guanglian Expressway has moved one step closer to achieving its goal of completion and opening to traffic by the end of the year. This expressway, a road to prosperity and an ecological road connecting northern Guangdong with the Greater Bay Area, will effectively play its role in safeguarding people's livelihood and promoting development, help northern Guangdong integrate into the Bay Area, and further leverage the radiating and driving role of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
