Most construction site hoardings in Changsha have been given a public service advertising “makeover.” Elegant images of traditional Chinese culture and concise, clear advertising slogans not only beautify the construction sites but also convey positive energy to citizens. On August 13, the reporter learned from the Changsha Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission that, in order to welcome the national urban civilization index assessment, Changsha will display public service advertisements promoting “civilized behavior and new social trends” on nearly 40,000 square meters of construction site hoardings in the main urban area, striving to add a new calling card to its civilization campaign.

Public service advertising is the item with the highest single score in this year’s national urban civilization index assessment. After conducting a comprehensive survey of all construction sites under construction across the city, Changsha divided them into 10 zones based on site type distribution and project registration status, and required construction sites in these areas to display public service advertisements promoting “civilized behavior and new social trends” on their hoardings. Among them, the hoardings of government-invested projects, projects with a construction area of more than 50,000 square meters, projects with a construction cost of more than 50 million yuan, and projects under construction along both sides of the 23 main roads in the urban area are the key areas for displaying public service advertisements.

Centering on the theme of “Chinese spirit, Chinese image, Chinese culture, Chinese expression,” many construction sites selected promotional works reflecting traditional cultural values, such as “Those who love others are always loved in return,” “Respect the elderly and care for the young,” “Harmony is precious,” and “The crow feeds its parents in return, the lamb kneels to suckle,” and presented them in full-color, full-wall form on the hoardings, arousing widespread public attention and enthusiastic response.

In addition, the civilization campaign has driven safe production. While displaying public service advertisements, some construction sites in Changsha also equipped staff dormitories with air conditioners and renovated cultural and sports activity rooms in accordance with the 12 assessment standards for civilized construction sites, greatly improving employees’ study, work, and living environments. Construction sites under the Changsha Rail Transit Group and the Municipal Construction Bureau also established safety culture corridors and integrity demonstration publicity boards, creating a culture of safety and integrity. Employees have cultivated their character and improved their quality through cultural publicity. According to a responsible person from the Changsha Municipal Housing and Urban-Rural Development Commission, as of early August, no production safety responsibility accidents had occurred at construction sites under construction in Changsha this year.
