On April 12, according to the WeChat public account 'Meet Minhou', the Minhou County Resource Planning Department revealed that following the completion of the Minhou Bridge and the ongoing construction of the Minhou Second Bridge, the construction of the Minhou Third Bridge has been officially included in Minhou's 14th Five-Year Development Plan.

　　In the preliminary plan, the Minhou Third Bridge is located on the east side of Minhou's central county seat, connecting Shangjie University Town and Jingxi New Town, and is expected to start construction within 5 years.

　　It is reported that from Ganzhe Street to Shangjie Town in Minhou, there are four bridges crossing the Minjiang River. Among them, the Minhou Bridge has been completed, the Minhou Second Bridge and the new Hongtang Bridge are under construction, and the Minhou Third Bridge has also been included in the plan.

　　In 2004, the Minhou Bridge, located at the westernmost part of Minhou County, was completed, connecting the north and south banks of the Minjiang River. In 2019, the Minhou Second Bridge officially started construction. The project starts from the Zhuqi section of National Highway 316, with the main bridge crossing South Binjiang Road and North Binjiang Road, and ends at the county's Bincheng Avenue. It is expected to open to traffic in January 2022.

　　In addition, the new Hongtang Bridge, which connects Shangjie in Minhou and Fuzhou urban area, is currently nearing completion and is expected to be ready for traffic in May this year.

　　Now, the construction of the Minhou Third Bridge is about to set sail anew, helping Minhou County grasp development trends and enhance regional potential.

　　According to a previously exposed online planning map of the area around the Provincial Party School in Shangjie, Minhou, the Minhou Third Bridge will connect Houguan Village in Shangjie Town and cross the river to Jingxi Town.

　　A responsible person from the Minhou County Resource Planning Department introduced: 'If the Minhou Bridge and the Minhou Second Bridge meet the internal needs of the central county seat, then the completion of the Third Bridge will be an important step for the central county seat to expand as a group and jointly integrate into the China Southeast (Fujian) Science City.' Currently, traveling from Jingxi New Town to Shangjie University Town requires going via Ganhong Road, Huai'an Bridge, Third Ring Expressway, and finally the Hongtang Bridge, taking more than 20 minutes by car. After the Third Bridge is completed, vehicles can go directly across the river.

　　It can be foreseen that after the Minhou Third Bridge is completed, it will create a new cross-river channel between Jingxi and Shangjie, achieve rapid connection with Fuzhou Metro Line 5, and promote the coordinated development of Jingxi, Shangjie, and the High-tech Zone.
