On March 27, the left tube of the Xiangshuling Tunnel of the Chongqing-Hunan Duplicate Line project, constructed by China Railway Beijing Engineering Group, officially began excavation, laying a solid foundation for the next stage of construction.

The Xiangshuling Tunnel is located in Shuijiang Town, Nanchuan District, Chongqing. With a total length of 4,019 meters, it is a separated left-and-right tube tunnel with a minimum burial depth of 56 meters and a maximum burial depth of 346 meters. Designed as a dual-line six-lane tunnel, it is one of the controlling works of the Chongqing-Hunan Duplicate Line.

According to the relevant person in charge of the project department, the tunnel exit is located on the left side of the Yuquan River. The surrounding terrain is complex and the construction of access roads is difficult. The project department planned a special design for the access road in advance and adopted a zigzag access road winding up the hillside.

The Chongqing-Hunan Expressway Duplicate Line is part of Chongqing's three-year expressway action plan. The project has a total length of about 285 kilometers and an investment of 64.6 billion yuan. Once completed, it will effectively ease the traffic pressure on the Chongqing-Hunan Expressway, enhance the traffic capacity of southeastern Chongqing, further promote the integrated development of transportation and tourism, and boost the sustained and rapid economic and social growth of areas along the route.
