As one of Changsha's "Top Ten Infrastructure Projects" this year, Line 6 has seen 31 of its 34 stations complete main structure topping-out. The total length of running tunnel works is 78.6 km, with 69.6 km completed to date. Within the year, all station main structures will be finished and all running tunnels will be holed through.

Track Laying: Drawing on High-Speed Rail Techniques for a More Comfortable Ride

According to the plan, the project department will combine mechanized and manual track-laying methods, carrying out track-laying construction successively at 8 track-laying bases and 7 manual track-laying bases, including Shaoguang Station, Xiangbiwo Station and Xiangya Hospital Station. In addition to Shaoguang Station, the track-laying base at Longfeng Station has already started construction.

To build a quality project and make passengers' rides more comfortable, the project department is drawing on high-speed rail construction techniques. In track construction, it will adopt the most advanced track control network precision measurement technology for metro track laying, using total stations together with track inspection trolleys to conduct comprehensive and systematic measurement, analysis and adjustment of the static geometric dimensions of the track, raising measurement accuracy to the 0.1 mm level to improve train running smoothness.

Decoration: Line 6 Decoration Model Station Unveiled

With a grille wave-strip suspended ceiling, white-and-blue columns and off-white walls, the more than 200-square-meter decoration model section in the station has been fully unveiled. Shaoguang Station is the decoration model station for Line 6. The decoration style for the entire line has now been determined. Public-area decoration will follow the concept of "simple decoration," with an overall design that is modern and stylish, novel in style, and appears more imposing, fashionable and attractive.

Line 6 currently has 25 work-area projects, including 5 main line sections, 1 depot and 1 parking lot; the total number of construction sites under way has reached 71. In addition to the 27 sites that did not stop work during the Spring Festival, the other 44 sites have resumed work. At the same time, including Metro Line 6, all 112 under-construction projects of Changsha Rail Transit have fully resumed work and production, setting off a rush across the city to "race against time" in construction.

As of now, 31 of the 34 stations on Changsha Metro Line 6 have completed main structure topping-out, and the remaining 3 stations are undergoing main structure construction, accounting for 91%; the total length of running tunnel works is 78.6 km, with 69.6 km completed, accounting for 89%. Among them, 47 single-line shield-driven running tunnels have been holed through, and 20 single-line shield-driven running tunnels are under construction.

East Extension: Two Lines Connecting to Terminal 3 to Start Construction Within the Year

At the end of last year, the Changsha Airport expansion and reconstruction project was officially launched. The project will build a comprehensive transportation hub integrating high-speed rail, metro, maglev and highway, among other transport modes.

Recently, the civil construction project of the east extension section of Changsha Rail Transit Line 6 and the design-construction general contracting project of the Changsha Maglev East Extension Line connecting to Terminal 3 were officially put out to tender. Both rail transit lines extending to Terminal 3 will start construction this year.

According to the plan, the east extension of Line 6 starts at the under-construction Huanghua Airport West Station (exclusive) of Line 6 and ends at Huanghua Airport East Station in the Huanghua Airport Comprehensive Transportation Center. The line is 4.22 km long, entirely underground, with 1 station.

The Changsha Maglev East Extension Line connecting to Terminal 3 starts in the west at the Huangjin Avenue Grand Bridge of the Changsha Maglev Express and ends in the east at the Terminal 3 Comprehensive Transportation Center. The line is 4.454 km long, with 2 stations, all underground. Maglev Terminal 3 Station will provide transfers with Metro Line 6, Line 10 and Line S2, and connect with the Chongqing-Xiamen High-Speed Railway. Meanwhile, the first phase of the northern extension of Changsha Metro Line 1 and the second phase of the western extension of Line 2 have started construction, and the first phase of the Changsha-Zhuzhou-Xiangtan Intercity Rail Transit West Ring Line is under vigorous construction. This year, Changsha Rail Transit Group will also launch the signal system renewal and upgrading project for Phase I of Line 2 and Phase I of its western extension, complete the feasibility study approval for Phase I of Changsha Rail Transit Line 7, and carry out preliminary research on the southern extension and northern extension of Line 5.
