On February 21, the right-line shield of the Yanbei section (Yantian Road Station–Beishandao Station) of Shenzhen Metro Line 8 Phase II was successfully launched, marking the official start of a new stage of "full dual-line tunneling" in the Yanbei section. This is also the first section on the entire Line 8 Phase II to have both lines launched.
The left line of the Yanbei section is about 690.2 m long, and the right line is about 700 m long, with an average burial depth of about 17.6 m. The section tunnel is constructed using two earth pressure balance shield machines. The shield machines were launched from the west end of Beishandao Station, run underground along Yantian Road, and bored from west to east to be received at the east end of the open-cut section of the Yanbei section.
After the right-line shield was lowered into the shaft, in order to ensure a smooth launch, the project department prepared a special construction plan and held a special condition acceptance meeting; at the same time, it established an online shield monitoring center to monitor various construction parameters in real time online through information technology, making it convenient for construction management personnel to control the overall risk situation and ensure the safety of dual-line shield construction.
Metro Line 8 Phase II starts from the end of Yantian Road Station, the terminal station of Line 8 Phase I, and extends east to Xiaomeisha, with a total length of about 8 km. The entire line is underground and includes four stations and four sections, all within the Yantian District.
The line has four stations in total: Beishandao Station, Yantian Food Street Station, Dameisha Station and Xiaomeisha Station, all of which are underground.
Up to now, the main retaining structures of all four stations on the line have been completed, earthwork excavation has reached 96%, the main structure has reached 64%, and section shield tunneling has reached 2%. Among them, two stations have been topped out (Beishandao Station and Xiaomeisha Station), and the left-line shield of the Yanbei section has completed 213 m.
As an important transportation artery of Shenzhen's "Eastward Expansion Strategy," Line 8 Phase II will operate through with Metro Line 2 after completion.
