The reporter learned from the First Railway Survey and Design Institute (FSDI) that at 6:16 local time on February 18, the 2,833-meter-long KOURAKOTO Tunnel, a key control project on the Winning Consortium's Dasheng Railway in Guinea, Africa, surveyed and designed by FSDI, was successfully holed through. It is the longest railway tunnel ever built in Guinea's history. With this, both tunnels under construction on the Dasheng Railway, totaling 4,734 meters in length, have been fully holed through.

The KOURAKOTO Tunnel holed through this time is located in the low hilly area where the Kindia Region and the Boké Region of Guinea meet, and the surrounding rock of the tunnel is mainly sandstone. Due to construction during the rainy season, surface water seeps down along rock fissures, posing a high risk of collapse and a relatively high level of danger. To ensure the smooth implementation of the project, FSDI worked closely with the construction team and relevant participating units, overcoming many unfavorable factors such as the COVID-19 pandemic, transport difficulties, inconvenient communications and material shortages, and, with strong technical strength and first-class technical services, helped Tunnel No. 1 be successfully holed through according to the planned schedule.

The Dasheng Railway is located in the Boké and Kindia regions of Guinea, with a main line length of 112 kilometers. It is Guinea's first modern railway, fully adopting Chinese standards, Chinese technology and Chinese equipment. After the project is completed, it will serve the transport of bauxite from the Winning Consortium's Santou mining area, ease the transport pressure on other bauxite enterprises along the route, and be of positive significance to the economic and social development along the line.
