A key interconnected rail transit project in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area—the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway—has achieved a breakthrough in construction. At 10:18 a.m. on February 22, at the construction site of Pitang Bridge in Linzhai Town, Heyuan City, as workers from China Railway 25th Bureau Group operated the bridge erection machine to steadily place the last 32-meter-long, 820-ton box girder onto the bridge abutment, box girder erection for the Heyuan section of the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway was fully completed. Next, construction will fully enter the bridge deck system and ballastless track phases.

It is reported that the Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway is an important part of the "Beijing-Hong Kong (Taiwan) Corridor," one of the "eight vertical and eight horizontal" main high-speed railway corridors in China's Medium- and Long-Term Railway Network Plan. The line runs through five cities in Jiangxi and Guangdong provinces—Ganzhou, Heyuan, Huizhou, Dongguan, and Shenzhen—with a designed maximum speed of 350 kilometers per hour and a main line length of 436.37 kilometers. The Guangdong section is 297.03 kilometers long and is the first 350-kilometer-per-hour high-speed railway undertaken by China Railway Guangzhou Group Co., Ltd. The Ganzhou-Shenzhen High-Speed Railway is expected to be completed and opened to traffic by the end of this year.
