Although the Spring Festival holiday has just ended, many key construction projects in Nanjing have not paused for a moment, going full speed into a “race mode” of comprehensive construction. Urban construction is striving with the running posture of “sprinting from the start, decisive battle from the outset” to achieve a strong “opening victory” in the first quarter. Recently, it was learned from the Nanjing Municipal Construction Commission that in 2021, Nanjing's urban and rural construction plan includes a total of 496 urban construction projects, with key efforts in six areas: transportation facilities, ecological protection, municipal public facilities, urban renewal, housing security, and urban and rural construction management. In the first half of the year alone, several key projects such as the Yangtze River International Conference Center and the Third Ring Road of the City will be completed.

　　By the Yangtze River these past two days, machines are roaring and horns are sounding, workers are cooperating up and down to efficiently carry out curtain wall installation, and the sailboat shape of the Yangtze River International Conference Center is gradually taking shape. The reporter learned that to ensure the project is completed in June, about 1,200 people from the project department voluntarily chose to stay in Nanjing for the Spring Festival. Extra salary subsidies and living benefits every day during the Spring Festival allowed the workers who stayed on to feel at ease and work energetically.

　　At present, the project is undergoing internal and external decoration and mechanical and electrical installation. To ensure the quality and efficiency of the external curtain wall installation, the contractor, the Third Company of China Construction Eighth Engineering Division, specially selected a group of highly skilled installation workers. In addition, prefabricated construction was adopted for the underground fire pump room; after pipes and other components were prefabricated in the factory, assembly was completed on site in only 60 hours. After the project is completed, it will host this year's Cross-Strait Entrepreneurs Summit.

　　Third Ring Road of the City: Serving the Garden Expo in April

　　As an external access road for the 11th Jiangsu Provincial Horticultural Expo, the Third Ring Road of the City will be ready for traffic in April. At present, the 2.2-kilometer expressway in Section 3 of the project has basically been completed, and the main structures of Sections 1 and 2 have also been completed, with bridge ancillary construction and roadbed construction underway.

　　At the asphalt paving site of Section 1, rollers shuttle back and forth in a bustling scene. The contractor said that project personnel began returning to work successively on the fourth day of the Lunar New Year, and more than 260 people and over 60 sets of machinery and equipment have now arrived, restoring full construction capacity. After the Third Ring Road of the City is completed and opened to traffic, it will not only provide high-quality road traffic support for the Garden Expo, but also open a full-line expressway without traffic lights for residents of areas such as Xianlin and Mengbei affordable housing, making travel faster and more convenient.

　　Yangtze River Avenue Section 1: Striving to return the road to the public by the end of June

　　With Sections 2 and 3 completed and opened to traffic last year, Section 1 of the Yangtze River Avenue expressway reconstruction has also entered the final sprint stage of construction, striving to return the road to the public by the end of June. At present, the 2-kilometer utility tunnel has been completed, the Caochangmen Tunnel is undergoing main structure construction and is scheduled to be completed by the end of March, and the Qingliangmen Tunnel is in the foundation pit support stage, with the main structure expected to be completed by the end of April.

　　To gain construction time, the project operates 24 hours a day, excavating during the day and removing soil at night, with multiple processes closely linked. While going all out, epidemic prevention and control cannot be relaxed. On the basis of closed management, the project strictly checks the nucleic acid test results, travel codes, and travel trajectories of returning personnel, and promptly enters them into the epidemic prevention system, arranging entry for construction only after requirements are met.
