Recently, at the site leveling construction site of the capacity replacement and upgrading project of Yunnan Yukun Iron and Steel Group, excavators are swinging their arms, rollers are advancing in rows, dump trucks are shuttling back and forth, and the construction is in full swing.

　　According to reports, as one of the important supporting projects of Yunnan Green Steel City, the Yukun project has, since the second half of last year, seen the city, county, town, and enterprise working together to strengthen organizational support, solidly advance preliminary work, effectively carry out relocation and resettlement, and strengthen factor guarantees, achieving breakthrough progress. On October 6, 2020, the site leveling project was fully launched, with more than 1,100 construction workers and thousands of construction machines working on the site every day to move mountains and fill valleys to build the steel city.

　　The Yukun project has a total investment of 21.2 billion yuan, covers an area of 12,000 mu, with the main plant area covering 7,330 mu. By 2023, on this land, a modern steel enterprise with 4.5 million tons of iron capacity and 5.15 million tons of crude steel capacity will be built, expected to achieve an output value of 36 billion yuan, tax revenue of nearly 1 billion yuan, and drive employment for more than 20,000 people, becoming a modern steel industry base radiating to South and Southeast Asia and a green demonstration zone for industry-city integration in Yunnan.

　　Since the project started, the city, county, and town have dispatched more than 140 cadres to form a special work team and a mass work group, established a temporary party branch stationed at the project construction frontline, strengthened organizational support and coordinated advancement, adhered to the party flag leading the way, fought according to plans, coordinated government and enterprise, concentrated efforts to break through bottlenecks and difficulties one by one, and adopted "nanny-style" services to ensure efficient progress in preliminary work, factor guarantees, relocation and resettlement, and engineering construction.

　　Marked by the official handover of the Huanian Farm land to Eshan County on July 17, 2020, the preliminary work of the Yukun project has achieved a series of breakthrough progresses. The Yunnan Green Steel City plan, the Eshan County contiguous development and construction plan, the overall plan of the Yubaidin Municipal Nature Reserve, and the project environmental impact assessment have successively passed approvals, and administrative approval work such as geological disasters, mining pressure, water conservation, and safety assessment for the project has all been completed.

　　On the basis of completing the compensation for residential house expropriation on time, repairing and constructing transitional resettlement houses, and smoothly implementing the transitional resettlement of 390 households in 8 village groups, on October 2, 2020, the construction of 395 relocated resettlement houses covering 263 mu and supporting infrastructure such as community party and mass service centers, home-based elderly care centers, and clinics was fully launched. At present, 82 houses have been topped out, and relocation and occupancy are expected to be realized before the Spring Festival next year.

　　With the recent demolition of residential houses in the project planning and construction area, the smooth progress of enterprise relocation, and the acceleration of project land supply, the site leveling project of the main plant area has been fully carried out. The total excavation and fill volume of the entire site leveling is 65 million cubic meters, divided into 14 sections, undertaken by 12 construction units. At present, the excavation area is more than 6,000 mu, and the backfill earthwork is more than 30 million cubic meters. The project is expected to be completed in April next year, detailed exploration of the main plant area will be carried out in May, and construction of the main plant area will start in July.

　　With the start of construction of the railway special line connection project of the Dahua Industrial Park and the park water supply project; with the advancement of the Huanian interchange reconstruction project, the Luoli Railway Station highway connection project, and the rerouting project of the Dahua Park section of National Highway 213; with the construction of 37 projects in ten major categories such as public management, culture and sports, medical and health care, commercial finance, and transportation and logistics, with an investment of 4.71 billion yuan, Huanian Town is relying on the Yukun project to accelerate the construction of a modern industrial new city that is ecological, smart, livable, and business-friendly, and a demonstration town for industry-city integration, promoting the comprehensive integration of Eshan County into the integrated development of Yuxi central urban area.
