At the Xiarihamu nickel-cobalt mine in the East Kunlun Mountains of Qinghai in winter, the cold wind rages like a blade, piercing the sky and bringing bursts of chill. Winter temperatures here remain between minus 16 and 25 degrees Celsius, accompanied year-round by cold winds and sandstorms, in an extremely harsh environment. As far as the eye can see, mountains tower and ice and snow cover the barren, grassless peaks—yet patches of Sunward green have appeared, adding boundless vitality to the vast land.


　　The Xiarihamu nickel-cobalt mine in Golmud, Qinghai, is Asia's largest nickel-cobalt mining project. Starting in September 2020, at the project owner's request, Sunward's Rock Drilling Equipment Business Unit began positioning itself to compete against several top domestic and international brands. Through comprehensive comparison and competition in areas such as market reputation and market share, the customer ultimately confirmed Sunward and another domestic drilling rig brand, requiring an on-site PK of the drilling rig products in early November. In the final PK in November, Sunward's SWDE165A integrated down-the-hole drilling rig completely defeated its opponent with efficient drilling performance, high-quality service support, and stable and reliable product quality, winning the customer's affirmation and praise and securing an order for four units before the New Year.


　　After the four Sunward SWDE165A units arrived at the mine in November 2020, they were deployed as the absolute main force in battles with extremely demanding construction schedule requirements, adopting a 24-hour shift-based full-attendance construction mode. In the harsh environment of high altitude, low oxygen, and severe cold, they maintained a drilling speed of 25 to 30 meters per hour, continuously pushing past the plateau-use constraints on equipment under various highly difficult construction requirements and continuously increasing the customer's blasting volume, earning high praise from the customer.
