Recently, it was learned from the Zhongkai Expressway Project Department of PowerChina Roadbridge Group that the east bank cable tower of the Yinzhou Lake Grand Bridge in the Jiangmen section of Zhongkai Expressway has been successfully capped and has entered the stage of rapid construction of the superstructure. It is reported that the Yinzhou Lake Grand Bridge crosses the golden waterway of Yinzhou Lake, connects Sanjiang and Shuangshui towns in Xinhui District, and links to the east and west lines of Jiangmen Avenue South via the Sanjiang and Shuangshui interchanges. It is the most difficult key control project in the Jiangmen section of Zhongkai Expressway.

“The Yinzhou Lake Grand Bridge has a total length of 4,701.2 meters. Its main construction contents include the main navigation channel bridge, the auxiliary navigation channel bridge, and the east and west approach bridges. The main navigation channel bridge is a double-tower, double-cable-plane hybrid composite girder cable-stayed bridge, with a main span of 530 meters and a tower height of 203.6 meters, divided into 37 segments,” said on-site technician Yang Shilin. The east bank cable tower adopts an A-shaped bridge tower with a height of 203.6 meters. The tower column is provided with three crossbeams, and the overall shape presents a sense of stability and upward force, highlighting the light and towering image of the cable-stayed bridge. During construction, the contractor adopted the hydraulic climbing formwork method to provide workers with a fully enclosed construction environment and reduce the danger of working at height. In addition, the formwork in this construction method climbs automatically, greatly improving construction efficiency.

Zhongkai Expressway is one of the main east-west axes on the west bank of the Pearl River in the provincial expressway network. The project will build a second channel connecting Shenzhen and Zhongshan with Jiangmen and western Guangdong, and is an extension of the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link in the southern areas of Zhongshan and Jiangmen. The construction of this project is of great significance for improving the regional road network, alleviating traffic pressure on the Jianghe and Jiangzhong expressways, and improving the road network structure on the west bank of the Pearl River, where the north-south expressways are relatively strong while the east-west ones are relatively weak.
