Treatment Methods of Vibroflotation Method for Foundation Settlement
01. Vibroflotation Densification Method
The vibroflotation densification method relies on the powerful vibration of the vibroflot to liquefy saturated sand layers, causing particles to rearrange and reducing the void ratio; on the other hand, it relies on the horizontal vibration force of the vibroflot to form vertical holes, into which backfill material is added to compact the sand layer.
Scope of application: Suitable for sandy soil and cohesive soil with a clay particle content of less than 0.005mm below 10%.
02. Vibroflotation Replacement Method
Its principle is to replace soft soil with materials such as sand and crushed stone, forming a composite foundation with the unreinforced part to achieve the purpose of improving foundation strength.
Vibroflotation replacement method (also called stone column method): The stone column method uses a single vibratory probe that sinks while jetting high-pressure water to form a hole, then fills in crushed stone while vibrating to compact it, forming a stone column. The column and the original cohesive soil form a composite foundation to improve bearing capacity and reduce settlement.
Scope of application: Suitable for foundations such as silt, mucky soil, sandy soil, silty soil, cohesive soil, and artificial fill with an undrained shear strength greater than 20kPa. For soft soil foundations with an undrained shear strength less than 20kPa, caution must be taken when using stone columns.
