Recently, the preliminary design documents for the G104 Jinglan Line Jinan Yellow River Highway Bridge Expansion Project, undertaken by the Provincial Transportation Planning and Design Institute, were approved by the Provincial Department of Transportation.

The main line of the project has a total length of 7.748 kilometers. It starts about 500 meters south of the at-grade intersection of Jihua Road and Erhuan East Road in Licheng District, Jinan, extends northward in the form of an elevated bridge by reconstructing the existing Erhuan East Elevated Bridge, builds a new Yellow River crossing bridge 33.5 meters downstream of the existing G104 Jinglan Line Jinan Yellow River Highway Bridge, and ends east of Shanhou Chenjia in Daqiao Subdistrict, Jinan Old and New Growth Drivers Conversion Area, at an at-grade intersection with G220.

The project integrates expressways, hub interchanges, a Yellow River bridge, municipal roads, and rail transit, making it a major "super" transportation complex project, with an estimated total investment of approximately 7.814 billion yuan. The new bridge runs parallel to the old bridge and adopts a double-tower, double-cable-plane steel truss girder cable-stayed structure with a main span of 488 meters. The main span length is equal to that of the old bridge's main bridge. It is a combined road-rail structure, with an eight-lane dual-direction roadway on the upper deck and dual-track rail transit on the lower deck, and will become the Yellow River bridge with the largest span for combined road and rail use. The project reserves a river-crossing corridor for Rail Transit Line 7, and the civil works reserved include underground sections, elevated sections, and stations, achieving "zero" breakthroughs in multiple areas.

The Lingdian Interchange is planned to be demolished and rebuilt, and will become Shandong Province's first "three-way" multifunctional turbine-type hub interchange, capable of simultaneously meeting the traffic conversion needs among expressways, urban expressways, and urban arterial roads.

As the important "one bridge" in Jinan's "three tunnels and one bridge" project, once completed, the project will connect Jinan's main urban area with the Old and New Growth Drivers Conversion Area, further improve the regional road network layout, enhance road network capacity, and promote the high-quality development of the provincial capital.
