On January 19, the Weinu Tunnel of the Tianlin-Xilin (Yunnan-Guangxi Border) Highway PPP Project, undertaken by China Energy Engineering Corporation's Gezhouba Group, was successfully holed through along its entire length after 264 days of construction.

The Weinu Tunnel is located in Weinu Village, Nalao Town, Xilin County. The tunnel is designed as a separated two-way four-lane tunnel, with a right tube of 494 m and a left tube of 503 m. The entrance adopts a cut-and-cover portal, while the exit uses an end-wall portal. The maximum burial depth is about 60 meters, and the surrounding rock is of Grades IV and V. The Weinu Tunnel is the first mountain tunnel to be holed through within Xilin County on the Tianxi Expressway and also the first tunnel to be fully holed through in Section 3 of the Tianxi Expressway construction. It carries important reference significance and will effectively promote the advancement of the entire Tianxi Expressway construction.

As the first mountain tunnel to be holed through within Xilin County on the Tianxi Expressway, the Weinu Tunnel undertakes the important task of box girder transportation. This early breakthrough will lay a solid foundation for subsequent box girder transportation and erection.

It is reported that the Tianxi Expressway is the first expressway within Xilin County, Baise City, Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Once completed, the expressway will directly straighten the distance between Nanning and Kunming, becoming another important outbound expressway corridor of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. The construction of this project will promote economic development between Yunnan and Guangxi provinces and has far-reaching significance and an important driving role in improving the highway network of Xilin County and promoting regional economic development.
