Recently, the right line of the shield-driven section of the Baitai Road Station–Beiche Base Station interval (hereinafter referred to as the Baibei interval) on the Qianchuan Line of Wuhan Rail Transit was successfully holed through. With this, the Baibei shield interval has achieved double-line breakthrough, marking the first shield interval on the Qianchuan Line to be fully holed through on both lines.

The Baibei interval is a transition section from underground to elevated, of which the right line of the shield-driven section has a total length of 714.3 meters. The interval starts from Baitai Road Station, runs westward along Shuangfeng Avenue, turns southwest onto the planned road at the Diaotai Road intersection, passes beneath the Xiadianwan residential area and the Wuhan local reserve Wuli Grain Depot, and then reaches the receiving shaft of the open-cut section. The strata traversed by the interval are mainly strongly weathered conglomerate and clay.

The Baibei interval tunnel passes beneath the grain depot, passes alongside high-voltage transmission towers, and is received under shallow cover. To ensure the safety of buildings and structures and smooth reception, the project department formulated a reasonable special safety construction plan, which passed expert review and node acceptance. During tunneling, ground monitoring data were tracked in real time, construction parameters for each ring were reported and summarized, tunneling parameters were continuously optimized, and on-site staff conducted 24-hour uninterrupted patrols.

In addition, the project department strictly controlled all stages of segment production and processing, delivery acceptance, and tunneling and assembly, ensuring the safe and high-quality breakthrough of the shield tunnel.

The Qianchuan Line is an important line in Wuhan's fourth-phase construction plan. It runs from Yuanboyuan North Station on Phase I of Line 7 to Qianchuan in Huangpi, with a total length of 36 kilometers and 11 stations (including 1 reserved station), of which 5 are elevated stations and 6 are underground stations, passing through Dongxihu District and Huangpi District. The starting point reserves conditions for eastward extension, and Tianyang Road Station reserves conditions for connection toward the Tianhe Airport hub.

The Qianchuan Line is a cross-city express line that proactively guides the industrial layout of new towns and connects new towns with the main city. As an important passenger transport corridor linking the northern new town cluster with the central urban area, the Qianchuan Line connects important development areas such as Qianchuan urban area, Beiche Base, Hengdian, the Airport Economic Zone, Panlongcheng, and the Jinyinhu area, achieving rapid direct connections between the Qianchuan urban area and the Hankou central area and effectively supporting the development of Wuhan's north-south urban spatial axis.
