Recently, the Hunan Provincial Development and Reform Commission officially approved the construction of the Changsha Rail Transit Line 2 West Extension Phase II project, with an estimated total investment of 12.342 billion yuan and a construction period of 52 months.

To further improve the backbone function of Line 2, leverage the benefits of the rail network, and meet the needs of urban economic and social development, the Changsha Metro Line 2 West Extension Phase II project is being constructed in accordance with the Notice of the National Development and Reform Commission on Issuing the Third Round Construction Plan for Changsha Urban Rail Transit (2017-2022) (Fagai Jichu [2017] No. 499) and the 13th Five-Year Plans for national economic and social development of Hunan Province and Changsha City. Recently, the project officially obtained approval from the Provincial Development and Reform Commission, marking major progress in the preliminary work of the Line 2 West Extension Phase II. Changsha Metro Line 2 will connect Changsha South Railway Station and Changsha West Railway Station, greatly facilitating passenger transfers between the two high-speed railway stations.

The West Extension Phase II project starts at Changsha West Railway Station, runs south along Huizhi Road into the core area of Meixihu, then heads east along the central axis of Meixihu, and ends at Meixihu West Station (exclusive), the starting station of the Line 2 West Extension Phase I project. The line is 13.99 km long, with 11 stations, all underground, including 3 transfer stations.
