The Liangjiang New Area–Changshou District Expressway starts at the Third Ring Expressway, crosses Mingyue Mountain, passes through the Changshou Economic and Technological Development Zone to connect with the Changshou urban area. It is an urban expressway with a total length of about 23 kilometers, six lanes in both directions, and a design speed of 80 km/h, including one extra-long tunnel and four interchange interchanges. Once completed, the project will ease the strain on the main trunk corridor toward northeastern Chongqing, shorten the travel distance from Changshou District to Liangjiang New Area by more than 30 kilometers, and reduce travel time to 30 minutes.
The Taojia Tunnel project starts at the Taojia Interchange on Science Avenue in the High-tech Zone and ends at the Lijiawan Interchange on the Second Longitudinal Line of the expressway in Dadukou District. It is an urban expressway with a total length of 13.49 kilometers and a design speed of 80 km/h, including one extra-long tunnel, one interchange interchange, and three simple interchanges. The tunnel is an important component of the skeleton road network of Chongqing's central urban area and a key external connection channel for the Western (Chongqing) Science City, radiating westward to Jiangjin and Luzhou. It is also a major artery that removes traffic bottlenecks between the central urban area and the western valley, linking multiple areas such as Taojia and Xipeng and several important industrial parks, including Shuangfu Industrial Park and Jiulong Industrial Park.
The Science City Tunnel project is located north of the University Town Tunnel. It starts in the west at the Xishan Interchange on Pingshan Avenue in the High-tech Zone, extends eastward through Zhongliang Mountain, and ends at the Hongcaofang Interchange on the Inner Ring Road in Shapingba District, with a total length of about 5.9 kilometers. The project is an important external connection channel for the Western (Chongqing) Science City, radiating westward to Tongliang and Suining. It is also a major artery that removes traffic bottlenecks between the central urban area and the western valley, and once completed, it will alleviate traffic congestion at the Shuangbei Tunnel and the University Town Tunnel.
The Huangjueping Yangtze River Bridge project is a section of the "Eight Horizontal Lines" expressway in the central urban area road network plan. It is the Yangtze River crossing node, namely from the west side of the Huangjueping Interchange to the east side of the Ertang Interchange, with a total length of about 3 kilometers (including 2.38 kilometers of co-built rail transit). The upper level is an urban expressway with a design speed of 80 km/h, and the lower level is an urban arterial road with a design speed of 60 km/h. The entire line includes one extra-large bridge and two interchange interchanges (Huangjueping and Ertang). Once completed, the project will ease traffic pressure on the "Fourth Horizontal Line" and become a rapid corridor connecting Jiulongpo District, Nan'an District, Banan District, and Dadukou District.
The Chahui Avenue project starts at the Chayuan Interchange, passes through Yuma Road in Chayuan, crosses Qiaoping Mountain and Huimin Town in Banan District from west to east, and ends at its intersection with the Ring Expressway. The road has a total length of 8.96 kilometers and is an urban expressway with six to 12 lanes in both directions and a design speed of 80 km/h. As one of the main horizontal skeleton roads of Chongqing East Railway Station, the project is the most direct rapid channel linking the East Station and the West Station. Its service scope extends westward to Nanping in Nan'an District, Yuzhong District, Jiangbei District, and other places; eastward it connects with the planned Wulong Expressway and links various radial expressways in southeastern Chongqing. It is a skeleton artery for achieving rapid connectivity between the East Station traffic and all districts of the central urban area.
The Lijiatuo Double-Track North and South Approach Roads project starts at the Qinglongzui Interchange under construction in Jiulongpo District and ends at the Huatao Interchange in Banan District. It has six lanes in both directions, a total length of about 5 kilometers (excluding the Lijiatuo Double-Track Bridge), and is an urban expressway with a design speed of 80 km/h. The project is an important component of the "Fourth Longitudinal Line" of Chongqing's central urban area skeleton road network, linking the Lijiatuo and Dayangshi clusters and strengthening the connection between Banan District and Jiulongpo District.
The Jianan Line Connecting Road project starts at the north-south trunk road in the Chonggang area of Dadukou and ends at the Qinglongzui Interchange. It has a total length of about 2.1 kilometers and is an urban arterial road with six lanes in both directions and a design speed of 50 km/h. The project is a key channel for the Chonggang area to connect northward. Once completed, it will improve traffic conditions on the internal road network of the Chonggang area and drive faster economic development in the area.
Phase II of the Chengnan Interchange project is located at the intersection of the Airport South Link Road and the Airport Road. It includes the unbuilt mainline bridge and two ramps between the eastern exit of the Yubei section of Ganyue Avenue and the western section of the Airport South Link Road. The east side of the mainline connects to the existing Airport South Link Line, passes under the Airport Road, and the west side connects to Ganyue Avenue. It is an urban arterial road with a design speed of 60 km/h and six lanes in both directions. The project will improve the traffic functions of the Chengnan Interchange in Yubei District and, once completed, will alleviate traffic congestion at the Airport Road Interchange and Shuangfengqiao Interchange along Airport Road.
The Chaotianmen area governance and upgrading project includes the Chaotianmen Square section, Hongyadong section, and Dongshuimen section, with a total length of 2.4 kilometers and a total land area of about 27.43 hectares. The project will implement ecological governance and quality improvement of Chaotianmen Square, the wharves, and the 2.4-kilometer hydro-fluctuation belt, while simultaneously improving flood control and disaster resilience; open up a 5- to 7-meter pedestrian system at elevations of 180 meters and 196 meters respectively between Hongyadong, Chaotianmen, and Dongshuimen (Huguang Guild Hall section), allowing barrier-free passage for sightseeing electric vehicles; activate 60,000 square meters of building space beneath Chaotianmen Square to become a landmark public area for cultural leisure and consumption for residents and tourists; restore the Chaotianmen Wharf, Modou Wharf, and the grand staircase, streamline existing wharf berths by reducing 14 berths to six, and create an open riverside shoreline.
