I. Preface:

The first Cross-Strait Geotechnical Engineering Technology Exchange Symposium was held in Beijing in 1992, and has since been held in Taipei (1993), Xi'an (1994), Shanghai (2002), Taipei (2004), Tianjin (2007), Taichung (2009), and Guangzhou (2011), for a total of eight sessions. The symposia have yielded fruitful results and received high praise from both within and outside the industry.

This symposium (2013) will be co-hosted by the Geotechnical Technology Research and Development Foundation of Taiwan and the Deep Foundation Construction Branch of the China Construction Industry Association. The venue is Taipei, and the overall theme is "Prevention, Control and Handling of Disaster Accidents in Underground Engineering."

This exchange symposium will invite renowned experts from both sides of the Strait to attend, deliver keynote reports and provide on-site consultation, and conduct in-depth discussions around the conference theme. Industry professionals are welcome to participate actively.
