8月1日，九江石化新建火炬单元工程桩基施工正式开工。这是继中心控制室之后，该公司油品质量升级改造项目中第二个正式进入现场实施的单元工程。
九江石化新建火炬设施及系统配套部分改造工程因路由长、牵涉范围广、对现有装置生产影响大而成为该公司油品质量升级改造项目中的关键线路之一。该工程建设投资为10629.3万元。基础设计于4月3日获总部正式批复，6月26日完成新火炬区试桩施工，7月18日完成桩基招标工作。工程施工计划工期13个月，预计2014年9月30日中交。
