Duan Jiaxuan, a machinery industry researcher at China Investment Consulting, believes that while domestic engineering machinery manufacturers are increasing investment, they should also note the high technical content of excavators themselves, especially the even higher technical content of key supporting components. This requires engineering machinery manufacturers to pay attention to breaking through technical bottlenecks while increasing investment in the excavator market.

    Among the key supporting components of excavators, the development process for key components such as engines, hydraulic systems and components, and transmission parts is costly, labor-intensive, and time-consuming, and involves great risks. Sometimes even huge investment yields little result. Even at present, several well-known domestic engineering machinery manufacturers such as Sany Heavy Industry, LiuGong, and Zoomlion can only choose to use foreign key supporting components to assemble their products first.

    Even after key supporting components are developed, when they are applied to excavators, their performance and stability still require a long period of time to verify reliability. For example, XCMG Group, a leading enterprise in China's engineering machinery industry, tried in earlier years to use domestic supporting components to assemble excavators, but the results were not ideal, with problems such as short engine durability, high oil and water temperatures, and poor heat dissipation performance. In addition, excavators using domestic hydraulic components also have many problems: operating movements are not smooth or coherent, and the negative impact on the whole machine is very prominent.

    Duan Jiaxuan also pointed out that at present, the technical problems existing in supporting components in China's excavator industry lie not in funding and management, but in the industrial foundation. In China, the industrial foundation for manufacturing supporting components is still very weak, and it will be difficult to improve in the short term.

    According to relevant reports, the underdevelopment of China's supporting components industry has restricted the development of China's excavator industry. For a long time, the country has had the problems of emphasizing host machines while neglecting supporting components, and emphasizing achievements while neglecting foundations, resulting in unbalanced industry development: the quality and quantity of host machines have improved rapidly, while supporting components have progressed very slowly.
