Indonesia's competent government authorities recently held a joint press conference announcing that, in accordance with the requirements of Indonesia's master plan for economic development, 56 infrastructure projects will be built from 2014 to 2017, requiring tens of billions of US dollars in construction funds. Due to limited government budgets, most projects will be built through public-private partnerships (PPP), and domestic private enterprises and foreign investors are welcome to participate actively.

According to Lu Qi, Deputy Minister of Indonesia's Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, the proposed infrastructure projects involve water treatment, ports, power stations, highways, dams, bridges, airports and other fields. At present, Indonesia's port and airport construction is seriously lagging behind, and high logistics costs have become a major obstacle constraining Indonesia's economy. Therefore, airport and port construction will become key areas of infrastructure development; in addition, science and technology infrastructure projects will also be a development priority.

To promote these 56 infrastructure projects, the Indonesian government will hold the Indonesia International Infrastructure Conference and Expo in Jakarta in November this year, and hopes that domestic and foreign investors will participate in this event and seek business opportunities.

Indonesia has long been an important country for Chinese enterprises "going global" to participate in infrastructure. As of May this year, the contract value of Chinese projects in Indonesia reached US$33.8 billion, with completed turnover of US$19.9 billion. As Indonesia continues to strengthen infrastructure construction, it will provide more cooperation opportunities for Chinese enterprises.
