On July 7, the first shield tunneling machine for Shenzhen Metro Line 12, "Pioneer No. 5," was successfully lifted and lowered into the shaft at Sea World East Station, marking the line's official entry into the tunnel section construction phase.
The shield machine lowered into the shaft this time is "Pioneer No. 5," which will undertake the right-line shield tunneling task from Science and Technology Museum Station to Sea World East Station, with a single-line length of 1,478.16 meters. The section from Science and Technology Museum Station to Sea World East Station is located in a coastal tidal flat area with complex geological conditions. The tunnel crown depth below ground surface ranges from 12.8 to 19.8 m, the maximum longitudinal slope is 28‰, the minimum curve radius is 350 m, and the main strata traversed by the tunnel body are mucky clay, silty clay, sandy cohesive soil, and completely weathered mixed granite.
Since the start of construction, Shenzhen Metro, PowerChina, and all participating parties have strengthened construction organization, focused on the theme of green and civilized construction, continuously improved quality management, and constantly accelerated construction progress. Sea World East Station is the first station in Shenzhen Rail Transit Phase IV to begin foundation pit earthwork excavation, the first station on Shenzhen Metro Line 12 to begin base slab pouring, and the first to begin roof slab pouring. These multiple firsts in progress ensured that this station's shield machine was the first to be lowered into the shaft.
Sea World East Station is the terminus of Shenzhen Rail Transit Line 12. It is located in Shajing Subdistrict, Bao'an District, on the south side of the intersection of Minzhu Avenue and Fengmin Road, and is arranged in a north-south direction along the existing Minsan Road. The station is a two-level island station with a platform width of 13 m; the first underground level is the concourse level, and the second underground level is the platform level. In the future, Sea World East Station of Line 12 will reserve a "cross-shaped" interchange station with the long-term Line 18 at Xinsha Road.
Metro Line 12 starts from Zuopaotai Station and ends at Sea World East Station; the line is about 40.54 km long in total and is fully underground; there are 33 stations in total, including 18 interchange stations.
As of now, 97% of the preliminary works, including greenery relocation, utility relocation, and traffic diversion, have started. Among them, 92% of the main works have started.
