In response to recent heavy rainfall in Taiyuan, Xiaodian District has conducted special flood-control safety inspections of 35 construction sites in its jurisdiction, including Xinsanjiao and Shiji Yayuan, despite the rain over the past few days. The inspections uncovered 45 hidden safety hazards and issued 32 rectification notices; three construction projects with serious safety hazards were immediately ordered to suspend work for rectification.

"If flood-control work at construction sites is not done well, it will not only affect project quality but may also lead to safety accidents such as collapses, cave-ins, and electric shocks," said a person in charge of the Xiaodian District Law Enforcement Bureau who led the special inspection. To prevent such accidents, the bureau established two construction site inspection teams, which have repeatedly carried out hazard inspections at construction sites in their areas of responsibility in the rain over the past few days, checking the drainage networks, foundation pit protection, site power lines, site dormitories, warehouses, temporary buildings, and more at each site.

During a week of inspections, 35 construction sites were checked, 32 rectification notices were issued, and more than 20 units with problems were ordered to rectify. The various hidden safety hazards included insufficient flood-control materials at sites, electricity meter boxes installed in dangerous locations, construction materials stacked too high, and inadequate protection measures for deep foundation pits; one unit alone had 11 hidden hazards. Law enforcement officers have required the sites with problems to complete rectification within a specified time. In the coming days, law enforcement officers will continue follow-up supervision.
