Final 600 meters of Qimen Road under construction

　　With the final 600 meters now connected, Qimen Road's history as a "dead-end" will come to a complete end. Reporters learned from the site of the Qimen Road project (from Yaogongmiao Market to Jinzhai Road section), currently under construction, that the express lanes have entered the pavement structural layer construction and are expected to enter the asphalt paving stage in mid-to-late August, with completion and opening targeted for September. At that time, an important new connecting corridor will link the Government Affairs District, Binhu New Area, and Baohe District.

　　It is reported that the Qimen Road project (from Yaogongmiao Market to Jinzhai Road section) officially started construction at the end of May this year. Although only 600 meters long, once completed it will eliminate the long-standing "dead-end" on Qimen Road at this location.

　　Fanhua Avenue "straightening" completed

　　Following the opening of the northern half of Fanhua Avenue (east side of Tianshan Road — Baohe Avenue) on the evening of June 30, the southern half has now also been fully completed. The Fanhua Avenue straightening project is now entirely complete, and vehicles traveling east-west along Fanhua Avenue can now drive straight through in front of the Baohe District Government offices. The opening of this road will further strengthen connections within Baohe District and Binhu New Area. In addition, passing vehicles on Baohe Avenue can use it to divert toward Huizhou Avenue, effectively relieving the traffic pressure on the road network of the Baohe Industrial Park caused by construction of the second section of Baohe Avenue.

　　Previously, a section of Fanhua Avenue in front of the Baohe District Government offices had never been connected. Vehicles traveling on this section had to detour via Luzhou Avenue (formerly Airport Road) and then return to Fanhua Avenue to continue. With the launch of the road network construction in the high-speed rail area, the Fanhua Avenue "straightening" project officially began in the first half of this year. The project starts 221 meters east of Tianshan Road (planned road), runs east through Luzhou Avenue, and ends at Baohe Avenue. Of this, the section from 221 meters east of Tianshan Road to Luzhou Avenue involves cutting a curve to make the old road straight, while the section from Luzhou Avenue to Baohe Avenue is newly built.

　　Fanhua Avenue Bridge over the Nanfei River enters main bridge construction

　　Although construction began only half a month ago, progress on the Fanhua Avenue Bridge over the Nanfei River has been quite rapid. The project has now entered the main bridge construction phase. As the first part of the overall Fanhua Avenue East Extension project to start, the Fanhua Avenue Bridge over the Nanfei River broke ground on July 1 and drove its first pile foundation on July 12. This week, work will continue on the remaining pile foundations, and construction of the river cofferdam will begin successively.

　　The Fanhua Avenue East Extension project starts from the Hefei Port access road in the west and ends west of Qiaotouji Road in the east, with a total length of 5,809.79 meters. It is an urban arterial road. The Fanhua Avenue Bridge over the Nanfei River is a single-tower, double-cable-plane cable-stayed bridge. The bridge is 764.5 meters long and 40.5 meters wide, with eight lanes in both directions. The main bridge has two spans of 160 meters and 120 meters respectively. The main tower column rises 91 meters above the bridge deck, making it the river-crossing bridge with the largest single span, the tallest main tower column, and the greatest width in Hefei at present. According to the construction plan, it is expected to be completed in 20 months.
