据了解， 近年来，昆明中铁集团致力于发展我国铁路养路机械事业，打破了国外技术垄断，填补了国内空白，实现了大型养路机械的国产化配套。截至今年6月，昆明中铁集团获得国家专利117项、省部级以上科技成果奖励40多项，牵头起草制定行业技术标准30多项。今年被国家科技部授予“国家铁路大型养路机械工程技术研究中心”的荣誉称号。
