The Baojiashan Tunnel has been awarded the 11th Zhan Tianyou Award for Civil Engineering.
It is understood that the 11.2-kilometer Baojiashan Tunnel project, upon completion in 2009, has successively received six national, provincial, ministerial, and local quality project awards, six authorized patents, and three accepted patent applications.
The Baojiashan Tunnel project commenced in April 2006, was completed in May 2009, and passed completion acceptance in December 2011. It is a control project of the Xiaohe to Ankang Expressway in Shaanxi Province on the national Baotou-Maoming Expressway, with a total length of 11,200 meters, complex geological structure, and poor construction conditions. The tunnel has achieved the following technological innovation highlights:
In the water-rich karst section of the extra-long highway tunnel, the water-release sand-settling tank scheme was adopted for the first time, forming a comprehensive geological disaster treatment technology of "surface treatment + in-tunnel grouting water plugging + sand-settling tank water release," which is the first of its kind in China. Based on the characteristics of the phyllite surrounding rock of the tunnel, a "rapid construction method for large-section highway tunnels in water-rich phyllite" was developed.
During construction in the phyllite stratum, the "surrounding rock sub-classification" index was proposed for the first time, avoiding construction risks. In the construction of nearly 3,000 meters of water-rich phyllite section, no safety or quality accidents occurred.
An automatic transport conversion system and unloading system combining steep-slope shaft with track and main tunnel without track were adopted, and a ventilation mode of single inclined shaft with double main tunnels was proposed, solving the ventilation problem of multi-working-face construction. A multi-information early warning and safety management decision-making system information platform for tunnel construction was independently developed and constructed, establishing a safety management system for long tunnels and achieving "zero fatalities" in the safety production of the extra-long tunnel.
