Recently, the Transportation Survey and Design Research Institute of the Provincial Department of Transport compiled the "Environmental Impact Report for the Bazhong-Wanyuan Expressway Project," publishing the latest route of the Bazhong-Wanyuan Expressway. The main line of this route has a total length of 122.253 kilometers, with 10 interchanges in total (including 1 reserved), of which 2 are hub interchanges. Construction is expected to start in October this year and be completed in 2017.

The Bazhong-Wanyuan Expressway starts about 2 kilometers south of Qingjiang Town in Bazhou District, connects with the Bazhong-Dazhou Expressway, and ends at Guandu Town on the north side of Wanyuan City, intersecting with the Dazhou-Shaanxi Expressway. The Bazhong-Wanyuan Expressway has four lanes in both directions, a design speed of 80 kilometers per hour, and a subgrade width of 24.5 meters. The entire line has a total bridge length of 30,898.5 meters and 92 bridges, including: 2 extra-large bridges totaling 1,859.5 meters, 83 large bridges totaling 28,654 meters, 7 medium bridges totaling 385 meters, and 47 culverts and passages; there are 24 tunnels totaling 47,830 meters, including: 9 extra-long tunnels totaling 34,822 meters, 5 long tunnels totaling 8,508 meters, 5 medium tunnels totaling 3,146 meters, and 5 short tunnels totaling 1,354 meters.

According to reports, the Bazhong-Wanyuan Expressway is the eastern section of the Mianyang-Wanyuan route, one of the five east-west trunk lines in the province's expressway network, and is a major east-west transportation corridor in northeastern Sichuan. Once completed, it will connect with the Chengdu-Nanbu-Bazhong-Hanzhong, Guangyuan (Weibo)-Bazhong-Dazhou (Weibo), Mianyang-Cangxi-Bazhong, Bazhong-Guang'an (Weibo)-Chongqing, and Ankang-Dazhou-Chongqing expressways, jointly forming the expressway network of northeastern Sichuan.

The Bazhong-Wanyuan Expressway is expected to start construction in October this year and be completed in October 2017, with an estimated total investment of 16.1827 billion yuan. The main control points of the route are: Qingjiang South, Miaonan, Qinjialing, Zhibao, Caoba North, Huangzhong, Changshi, and Guandu.
