The reporter learned from the Gui'an High-Speed Railway Station project department of China Railway Construction Engineering Group that the project department is currently making a final sprint toward the station's completion. The station building project has entered the final on-site construction phase——the finishing and closing stage of decoration and fit-out. The overall exterior of the station building has begun to take shape, and more than 90% of the investment in the station building project has been completed. Construction is expected to be completed by the end of June this year.
    
    “Gui'an Station takes ‘A Rising Star of Central Guizhou, Unique Ecological Charm’ as its design concept, highlighting the perfect integration of Guizhou's multi-ethnic cultural connotations with modern architecture and the high-speed railway station building in the decoration and fit-out details,” said Liao Zhicheng, deputy manager of the Gui'an High-Speed Railway Station project department of China Railway Construction Engineering Group. The station entrance hall is designed with two giant reliefs, showcasing Guizhou batik, a world intangible cultural heritage. The window decorations on the exterior walls adopt abstract designs based on the patterns of the Miao, Dong and Zhuang ethnic groups, with strong ethnic characteristics. The exterior walls and roof eaves adopt a steel structure dougong (bracket set) design, reflecting the characteristics of dougong in ancient Chinese architecture and achieving a natural transition and exquisite harmony between the roof and the surrounding building. Semicircular aluminum alloy profiles are installed on the roof, creating a magnificent momentum that perfectly combines the antique-style architecture with the modern metal roof and effectively carries forward the architectural style between the old and the new.

Gui'an Station, formerly known as Qingzhen East Station, was renamed Gui'an Station after a Class I change. It is located in Xinmin Village, Huchao Township, Gui'an New Area, in the core area of the Huma area of Gui'an New Area. It mainly consists of a side platform station building, an elevated waiting hall, canopy platforms, paved station square, an urban passageway and other related station building projects, with a total construction area of more than 80,000 square meters. Among them, the side platform station building has a construction area of 48,500 square meters and a width of 288 meters; the elevated waiting hall has an area of 12,100 square meters and can accommodate 20,000 passengers at peak times; the platforms and canopies have a construction area of 18,000 square meters.

Gui'an Station is a large comprehensive transportation hub integrating seamless transfers among high-speed rail, subway, buses, taxis and long-distance coaches. It is the second-largest high-speed railway station in Guizhou Province after Guiyang North Station. After the station is put into operation, more than 100 high-speed EMU trains on the Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway will stop at the station every day.
