After nearly two years of detailed research, extensive consultation, scientific demonstration, and careful deliberation, the naming of stations on Hefei Metro Line 3 has recently been officially approved.

According to the unified deployment of the Hefei Municipal Party Committee and the Hefei Municipal Government, Metro Line 3 will begin trial operation by the end of 2019. To meet the operational needs of the line, the Hefei Metro Office, taking into account the actual situation of station naming for Lines 1 and 2, organized the station naming work for Line 3. To ensure the practicality and cultural relevance of Line 3 station names, the Hefei Metro Office conducted extensive research, including on-site inspections and visits to solicit opinions from district governments and subdistricts along Line 3, and publicly solicited relevant opinions and suggestions from society through the media. A total of over 4,000 opinions and suggestions were collected and sorted through various channels. After review and selection, comprehensively considering historical, geographical, folk customs, and other regional cultural factors, and combining contemporary features, the station naming work for Line 3 was successfully completed.

It is understood that the principles for station naming mainly include three aspects: First, considering the directional function of station names, using point, line, and area place names closely related to the station's location, conforming to citizens' travel habits, and reflecting functional consistency and complementarity with the roads and buses used in citizens' daily travel; Second, reflecting the city's historical and cultural connotations, conforming to the cultural and locational characteristics of the areas along Line 3, and integrating with natural geography and the city's overall planning; Third, names should be concise and to the point, not named after people, enterprises, or commercial real estate projects, and not using non-permanent place names.

The stations of Line 3 from southwest to northeast are: Xingfuba, Anhui University Qingyuan Campus, Hefei University of Technology Feicui Lake Campus, University Town North, Fanhua Avenue, The Second Affiliated Hospital of Anhui Medical University, Anhui Provincial Museum, Library, Hefei Grand Theatre, Municipal Government Affairs Center, Honggang, National University of Defense Technology, West Qilitang, Nanxinzhuang, Hefei West Railway Station, Luzhou Park, Siquanqiao, Zhenghe, Haitang, Yilijing, Huainan Road, Yalinchong, Hefei Railway Station, Zhusitan, Fangmiao, Douqiaowan, Xinhai Avenue, Qinlao Village, Wenhuiyuan, Preschool Teachers College, Vocational Education City, Vocational Education City East, Xiangcheng.
