The project was successfully completed and accepted on December 26, 2018. Jointly managed by the Shunan Gas Mine of PetroChina Southwest Oil & Gasfield Company and Sichuan Shale Gas Company under a “dual-client” arrangement, and implemented by BGP Inc., it is currently the largest shale gas 3D seismic survey project in China. The project covered a construction area of more than 2,000 square kilometers, lasted 212 days, and involved more than 100,000 shot points, achieving 4 million safe work hours. The first-grade rate for single shots reached 76.86%, and the acquisition results met the design requirements and intended objectives.

With close cooperation between the client and contractor, the project team continuously improved the quality management system and overcame difficulties including a large construction area, numerous irregular work zones, cross-season operations, dense population, high density of waterway and road networks, and numerous obstacles. This ensured full-process control and scientific, orderly implementation of the acquisition procedures, achieving both schedule and quality assurance. Through “well-seismic joint” operations and “micro-adjustment” of excitation parameters in high-noise areas, the project filled the data gap in obstacle zones where well-shot acquisition could not be used, achieved “100% handling of misfired shots,” eliminated hidden risks at the source, reduced noise interference, and improved the signal-to-noise ratio of the data.
