After receiving the alarm, the First Squadron of the Fuzhou Fire Special Service Brigade rushed to the scene. Firefighters saw that the pile-driving tower crane, about 20 meters long and weighing dozens of tons, had fallen in the muddy construction site, with its jib pinning a yellow dump truck. The driver was trapped in the deformed cab and had suffered severe head injuries. Co-workers and the arriving firefighters kept shouting to the injured man to hold on, while notifying 120 medical personnel to come to the scene and assist with the rescue.

Because the pile-driving tower crane was too heavy, ordinary rescue tools could not be used. After consulting with the construction site, the fire rescue personnel brought in a crane and a large excavator. After securing the jib with steel cables, the two vehicles slowly lifted the fallen jib to create space for the rescue.

Co-workers participating in the rescue at the scene deflated the front tires of the dump truck, and the truck gradually sank, making the trapped driver feel slightly more comfortable. Subsequently, several co-workers stepped forward and pushed the deformed door outward with great effort, while firefighters at the same time used hydraulic spreaders to open up part of the cab. After 30 minutes of rescue, the firefighters and co-workers finally pulled the trapped driver out of the deformed cab.

At present, the cause of the pile-driving tower crane collapse is under further investigation.
