As China's largest diesel locomotive R&D and manufacturing base, CSR Ziyang has exported more than 600 locomotives to 23 countries. Thanks to its outstanding export record, reliable product quality, stable operational performance and efficient after-sales service, "CSR creation" locomotives have generated an international brand effect in overseas markets and created a "chain reaction" of orders, most notably reflected in customers placing additional orders before the first batch of locomotives had even entered service. In addition to this second batch from Pakistan, CSR Ziyang's earlier exports of high-power AC drive diesel locomotives to Australia and mainline freight diesel locomotives to Kazakhstan also saw customers place additional orders during the locomotive development stage.

It is understood that the first batch of 50 locomotives for Pakistan consists of two models: 25 2,000-2,500 hp mainline diesel locomotives and 25 3,000-3,500 hp mainline diesel locomotives. The second batch of 8 locomotives comprises the same two models, 4 of each. The maximum operating speeds of the two models are 120 km/h and 140 km/h. CSR Ziyang is making every effort to develop the first batch of locomotives. As of July 2, design work on both models was nearing completion, with production expected to begin in mid-July.
