In mid-June it was learned that the steel structure project (general contracting) of the Donghai International Center (apartment complex), undertaken by China State Construction Engineering Corp.'s Second Engineering Bureau Co., Ltd., won the 2012 China Steel Structure Gold Award (National Quality Project). The project successfully applied technologies such as aluminum alloy formwork and attached self-climbing scaffolds. Among them, the construction team adopted the integral lifting method to achieve the successful “mid-air connection” of a sky corridor weighing 700 tons in total, 180 meters above ground and with a maximum span of 35 meters, with the tower structures—the greatest single-lift height achieved through the successful use of hydraulic integral lifting technology in China.

It is reported that the project consists of two towers set at a 45-degree angle and a shopping mall podium. It has now been successfully topped out and is in the fine decoration stage. Once fully completed, it will become Asia's tallest residential building and a new landmark in Shenzhen's central district.
