Recently, a concrete mixing vessel measuring 69.9 meters in length, 25 meters in width, and 4.8 meters in depth, capable of producing 360 cubic meters of concrete per hour, was successfully launched in Zhuhai, Guangdong. This vessel is currently the most advanced concrete mixing vessel in China and is hailed as a “mobile floating concrete production plant.” Experts consider this a major breakthrough for SANY in the new business field of marine heavy industry.

The relatively backward level of marine equipment technology and manufacturing capability has long constrained China's development and utilization of marine resources. “Enhancing China's offshore equipment manufacturing capability and technical level, and ultimately building a strong national marine engineering brand” is the goal of SANY's “Blue Ocean Strategy” after achieving tremendous success in the construction machinery sector.

Li Guojie, Dean of the SANY Marine Heavy Industry Research Institute, told reporters that the concrete mixing vessel launched this time, named “Haozhou Tong 1,” is the first engineering vessel project of SANY Marine Heavy Industry and an important step for SANY to actively respond to the national marine strategy and move into the marine engineering machinery sector.

According to reports, a concrete mixing vessel is an engineering barge equipped with an onboard concrete mixing plant. The equipment is mainly used for offshore engineering projects such as cross-sea bridges, island and reef development, shoreline preparation, artificial island construction, and port and wharf projects. The mixing vessel developed by SANY can achieve concrete pumping and pouring operations at a rate of 360 cubic meters per hour. It is currently the most advanced concrete mixing vessel in China, leading domestically in performance indicators such as displacement, silo capacity, production efficiency, placing radius, and environmental friendliness, with some indicators reaching international advanced levels.

It is worth noting that the mixing vessel was jointly developed by the SANY Marine Heavy Industry Research Institute and the Pumping Research Institute. Li Guojie stated that the joint development effectively combines SANY's internationally leading technologies accumulated in land equipment manufacturing with core R&D capabilities for engineering vessels, rapidly raising the technical level of such products.

Due to the high product positioning and the heavy, time-constrained technical challenges, there were many technical issues requiring communication and discussion during the joint development process. “For example, how to reduce the vessel's center of gravity and improve stability while ensuring the pouring performance of the entire vessel—the research institute conducted multiple technical studies and simulation tests. In developing the vessel's intelligent integrated control system, many technical difficulties were also overcome. Through these innovative ideas and experiments, the company has cultivated core technologies in the field of engineering vessels,” said Li Guojie.

“Next, the company will continue to upgrade the technology of the first mixing vessel to make it an internationally competitive product with globally leading technology.” According to Li Zhongyin, Vice President of the SANY Group, SANY Marine Heavy Industry will also leverage the Group's leading advantages in land engineering equipment to develop engineering vessel products such as crane vessels and pile-driving vessels.

SANY's entry into the engineering vessel industry and its rapid launch of the first technologically leading concrete mixing vessel have attracted widespread attention from the industry and won recognition from users and industry experts. Recently, a customer from Singapore made a special trip to SANY to inspect and discuss the procurement of mixing vessels.

In recent years, with the continuous expansion of construction scale in river regulation, bridge erection, seaport construction, and other areas, construction sites have continually extended from land to offshore areas, greatly increasing the amount of concrete poured in water, and the concrete mixing vessel market is expanding. Industry experts say that China and the global marine economy will inevitably require more advanced and reliable modern equipment, and the marine engineering equipment sector has enormous development prospects.
