The Xianghe Tunnel, known as a "museum of adverse geology" on the Guangtong–Dali Railway, part of the China–Myanmar international corridor, has broken through, laying the foundation for the launch of high-speed train services between Kunming and Dali in July this year. Upon completion, travel time from Kunming to Dali in Yunnan Province will be cut from the current 6 hours to about 2 hours.

The Xianghe Tunnel, located at the border of Dali and Xiangyun, is 10,220 meters long and is a Class I high-risk double-track tunnel. It passes through nine large mountain fault fracture zones and is known for its "complex geological conditions, frequently changing surrounding rock, developed groundwater systems, and frequent water and mud inrushes." Risk sections featuring extremely soft and broken rock, strongly developed karst, or water-rich rock masses account for 45% of the tunnel's total length. It is the last tunnel on the Guangtong–Dali Railway to break through. Once the railway opens, it will strengthen the transport capacity of the road network in western Yunnan, help build Yunnan's outbound corridors, and drive economic and social development in western Yunnan.
