Recently, Shanxi Province set clear goals for advancing BIM application: by 2020, Grade-A survey and design enterprises and other units in the province's construction industry will possess BIM technology application capabilities, achieving integrated application of BIM with enterprise management systems and other information technologies. This year, the province will launch its first batch of pilot demonstration projects.
The province will apply BIM in government-invested projects and comprehensively enhance BIM application capabilities in the engineering construction sector, promoting the popularization and deepening of BIM application in the construction field. According to the goals, by 2020, Grade-A survey and design enterprises and other units in the province's construction industry will possess BIM technology application capabilities, achieving integrated application of BIM with enterprise management systems and other information technologies. The proportion of newly approved large and medium-sized buildings invested mainly by state-owned funds, as well as public buildings applying for green building status and green ecological demonstration communities, that adopt integrated BIM application will reach 90%. To comprehensively enhance BIM application capabilities in the construction industry, the province requires engineering survey units to build engineering survey databases, establish visualized engineering survey models, and achieve information interconnectivity; design units to establish collaborative design working models, utilize Geographic Information System (GIS) technology to build BIM models, and conduct simulation analysis and optimized design of project planning schemes, investment strategies, and building performance; general engineering contracting enterprises to use BIM technology to establish a collaborative management model with seamless connections among design, construction, equipment supply, professional subcontracting, and labor subcontracting; and engineering consulting enterprises to provide technical services throughout the entire engineering construction cycle, including feasibility studies, project planning, and project management based on BIM technology. Among construction projects completing preliminary design approval this year, the province will launch its first batch of pilot demonstration projects, with priority given to encouraging pilot BIM technology application in public buildings and municipal infrastructure projects invested mainly by state-owned funds.
