Tomorrow, the Yuguizhou Railway will open, cutting travel time from Chongqing to Guiyang from the current 9 hours to about 2 hours. Beyond shortening the distance between Chongqing and Guiyang, today (24th), reporters learned from the Chongqing Municipal Transport Commission that through the Yuguizhou Railway, high-speed trains departing from Chongqing will reach Kunming, Nanning, Guangzhou, Shanghai and other places. Chongqing's railway is accelerating its integration into the national high-speed rail network, making travel more convenient for residents.

External rapid transit system further improved, travel more convenient

The Municipal Transport Commission stated that the Yuguizhou Railway is an important component of the Baotou (Yinchuan)-Haikou main corridor in the national "Eight Vertical and Eight Horizontal" high-speed railway network plan. After the Yuguizhou Railway opens, it will connect southward with the Shanghai-Kunming High-Speed Railway, Guiyang-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway and Guiyang-Nanning High-Speed Railway, forming a rapid corridor for Chongqing to go south, east and west; northward it will connect with the Lanzhou-Chongqing Railway and Xi'an-Chengdu High-Speed Railway, forming a rapid north-south corridor between Xi'an, Chongqing and Guiyang; in the future it will connect eastward with the Chongqing-Zhengzhou High-Speed Railway, forming a rapid corridor between Beijing, Zhengzhou, Chongqing, Guiyang and Kunming.

"The Yuguizhou Railway has improved our city's external rapid transit system, accelerating Chongqing's railway integration into the national high-speed rail network, and is of great significance to our city's efforts to build an international comprehensive transport hub," said a relevant official from the Municipal Transport Commission. The most direct benefit for residents is more convenient travel.

Through the Yuguizhou Railway, high-speed trains departing from Chongqing will reach Kunming, Nanning, Guangzhou, Shanghai and other places. Travel time from Chongqing to Kunming will be shortened from 12 hours to 5 hours, to Nanning from 19 hours to 8 hours, to Guangzhou from 12 hours to 7 hours, to Changsha from 13 hours to 4 hours, to Xi'an from 10 hours to 5 hours, to Taiyuan from 20 hours to 9 hours, and to Fuzhou from 25 hours to 13 hours.

Forming a Chengdu-Chongqing-Guiyang "3-hour transport circle", new opportunities for tourism development in the three places

Having a bowl of dandan noodles in Chengdu in the morning, hot pot in Chongqing at noon, and sour soup fish in Guiyang in the evening — looking forward to it? With the opening of the Yuguizhou Railway, not only will the distance between the three places be shorter, but it will also usher in a new era of coordinated development among Chengdu, Chongqing and Guiyang.

The Municipal Transport Commission stated that after the Yuguizhou Railway opens, a Chongqing-Guiyang "2-hour transport circle" and a Chengdu-Chongqing-Guiyang "3-hour transport circle" will be formed, gradually creating a situation where the three places divide work and cooperate while joining forces in industrial and major project layout, and promoting mutual resource sharing and joint development of the tourism market.

Indeed, the Yuguizhou Railway links Chongqing and Guiyang, and in Chongqing achieves seamless connection with the Chengdu-Chongqing High-Speed Railway, connecting Chengdu on the same line, which will bring new opportunities for tourism development in the three places.

"While shortening the distance between cities, the Yuguizhou Railway will promote new freight development between cities, and a new railway transport pattern with separate passenger and freight lines will be formed between Chongqing and Guiyang," the Municipal Transport Commission said. The Yuguizhou Railway will mainly handle passenger transport; the existing Sichuan-Guizhou Railway will mainly handle freight, with freight capacity more than tripled from the current 11 million tons per year.
