On January 23, the Chengdu Free Trade Zone Management Committee held a press conference in Shuangliu to "report" to the public on the favorable start of the free trade zone. Guo Qizhou, director of the Management Committee of the Chengdu Area of the China (Sichuan) Pilot Free Trade Zone, introduced that efforts to improve the quality and volume of international railway trains led to 1,012 trips in 2017, bringing the cumulative total to 1,711 trips, firmly ranking first among cities nationwide in terms of train operations, with the quality of operations and service levels steadily improving.

The network layout of "westward expansion, southward extension, and eastward connection" has been comprehensively improved. International trains now operate 14 routes from Chengdu to Lodz, Nuremberg, Tilburg, Moscow, and other destinations. The "Chengdu-Europe+" ASEAN rail-sea intermodal transport corridor connects Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, and other Southeast Asian countries. "Chengdu-Europe+" interconnection trains have been launched with 13 domestic hub cities including Shenzhen and Ningbo, building an international railway logistics service network that connects Chengdu with economically developed regions such as the Yangtze River Delta, Pearl River Delta, and Bohai Rim, radiates to Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, and Macao, and links Pan-Asia with Europe.

In 2017, the total value of imports and exports through the airport reached 274.65 billion yuan, an increase of 42.2%, accounting for 70% of the city's total import and export volume; the total value of imports and exports through the Qingbaijiang Railway Port reached 19.71 billion yuan, an increase of 3.6 times.

In addition, the Chengdu Free Trade Zone has promoted coordinated opening with coastal, border, and riverside areas, actively exploring cooperation and win-win results in broader fields and at deeper levels, jointly building platforms for coordinated opening, and sharing the dividends of institutional innovation. Specifically, it has accelerated cooperation between Shuangliu International Airport and Qingbaijiang International Railway Port and coastal, border, and riverside ports, creating an international comprehensive transportation hub with "air-rail-road-water" multimodal transport.

It has also signed a series of strategic cooperation agreements with key cities inside and outside the province, including South Sichuan Port, Shenzhen Qianhai, and Xiamen in Fujian. In addition, this month, the "Coordinated Opening · Shared Opportunities" Northwest Three Provinces Cooperation Exchange Meeting was successfully held in Urumqi, Lanzhou, and Xining, taking the lead in carrying out joint consolidation and transport linkage trials, promoting Eurasian economic, trade, and cultural connectivity and coordinated development, and achieving a number of substantive results.
